EPL News - Arsenal Records their first League win against Norwich | City 1-0 Leicester

Arsenal Defeated Norwich 1-0 in the Premier League match to record their first win for the season.

Sarcastic shouts of "we're staying up" echoed across the Emirates home seats as Arsenal moved up to 16th position with three points from four games, while Norwich, who are still seeking their first point of the season, plummeted to the bottom of the league.

Arsenal's season has been defined by their failure to defend their box effectively. Brentford, Chelsea, and Manchester City all managed to muscle their way past the Arsenal defenses to win, but Norwich was unable to do so due to Arsenal's superior strength.

The major reason for this was that Arsenal had a defender on the field who enjoys such fights. Gabriel has missed the start of the season - and much too much football in general - due to a knee injury, but his presence was palpable here alongside Ben White, who appeared more at ease knowing he had a genuine defender doing more of the dirty work.

The Brazilian's command of his area was summed up brilliantly in injury time as he deflected a Teemu Pukki attempt over the crossbar. Aaron Ramsdale didn't have to make a significant save all day, thanks in part to Gabriel's handling of potentially perilous circumstances. He and White have the qualities that will allow Arsenal's youthful stars to develop and propel the club back up the Premier League table.

Consistency the key to Man City's defeat against Leicester City on Saturday?

Following a loss to Tottenham on the first weekend, the reigning champions have responded well. Manchester City won three of their three games, scoring 11 goals and allowing none. Pep Guardiola has used the same City starting XI throughout the run.

Despite the loss of Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo, his team has shown no symptoms of requiring new weapons. The city is now getting into its groove.

There was no feeling of another goal glut when faced with stronger competition in the form of Leicester, whose manager Brendan Rodgers may view this 1-0 setback as a wasted chance. With the game still scoreless, Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman both missed clear-cut opportunities, while Jamie Vardy's effort was called out for offside.

The city had 25 shots, eight of which were on target, and 61% control, but their winning goal at the King Power Stadium was rather lucky, with Bernardo Silva pouncing on a loose ball after Joao Cancelo's shot had been blocked by Caglar Soyuncu.

It happened just minutes after Rodgers determined that the hour mark was the appropriate time to re-introduce Jonny Evans following his injury layoff for Jannik Vestergaard, who had played well but was tired due to his own recent setback. The city appears to be benefiting from the same established line-up in a high-quality game.

You always have reservations after the international break, remarked Guardiola. For three weeks in a row, we performed at a high level. We had many opportunities to score and could have done so. We still need to take this step.

The return of the Champions League this week will almost certainly result in changes, especially with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden on the bench and nearing full fitness, but with Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias developing a stronger understanding with each passing game in defense, Guardiola may resist the temptation to tinker too much as City look to set the pace once again.
