If there has been one thing Barcelona has missed this season upfront, it has been clinically in front of the goal.
In several instances, the Catalans have displayed an almost allergic reaction to the shooting. Many possibilities have been lost as the desire to simplify has all too frequently backfired.
And it is here that the loss of Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati is most felt by the club. The ability of the Barcelona winger to find the back of the goal is highly valuable to the team.
Fati intuitively understands when to squeeze the trigger on the first sighter, and he is a highly competent finisher even at such a young age.
This only adds to his huge technological arsenal, which allows Barcelona to generate so many opportunities in the first place.
Fati has been sidelined since November 2020, when he suffered significant damage to the internal meniscus in his left knee.
He had surgery immediately following the accident, which had originally ruled him out until March. Fati has been limited to doing just focused gym exercises owing to chronic edema.
There have been unverified rumors that he has already undergone another operation and that another treatment is not entirely ruled out.
Barcelona, on the other hand, appears to have gotten some good news concerning his recuperation recently.
Fati initially did not respond well to the biological regeneration therapy indicated by Dr. Ramon Cugat, but he is now being advised that he is on the correct track.
He is presently working with modest weights before moving on to on-field drills with the rest of the team.
Ansu Fati has already received guarantees from club president Joan Laporta that he would be able to play again and that the club will fully assist him during his arduous recuperation period.
It is seen the Barcelona youngster, as well as former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who is suffering from a similar knee ailment, will be unable to play this season.
Of course, this means Fati will have plenty of time to relax and heal before rejoining the team in time for preseason.
It's no surprise that at such a young age, he's already established himself as a crucial first-team player. His caliber is impossible to overlook, and he is severely missed when he is absent.
Hopefully, the 18-year-old will be able to resume his former level of performance as soon as possible, avoiding any setbacks.
