fit for Man United, Cameroon clashes and other Nigeria Football News

Kelechi Iheanacho has returned to training with Leicester City and is poised to play Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Due to a toe injury, the Super Eagles star missed last weekend's 2-0 win over Brighton and will not play in Tuesday's Carabao Cup match against Sheffield United.

But we need to work on improving his fitness levels.

He'll be working out. We'll have a solid training group and a decent, competitive game to play. We are aware of this.

He will not be appearing (against Sheffield United). There aren't any big issues, which is a plus. Obviously, if a player becomes uncomfortable in there, you want to alleviate that pain by giving him a few days off the grass.

We believe we have accomplished this, and we would like to push him now to see if he can increase his fitness. That is the plan for the following three or four days.

I believe it would be premature to throw him in (on Tuesday), though I believe he is capable of doing so. Yes, there is a chance he will be in the team to face Manchester United.

Iheanacho tweeted on his comeback, saying, "Happy to be back on the pitch."

Iheanacho is also set to be nominated to the Nigeria team, which will face Cameroon in back-to-back Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers in September.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare informed the club's website on Monday that Kelechi [Iheanacho] also trained this morning.

He'll be doing some workouts. We'll have a good training group and a good, competitive game to look forward to.

He is not going to appear (against Sheffield United). There are no big issues to speak about, which is a welcome relief. Obviously, if a player becomes uneasy in there, you want to alleviate that discomfort by taking him off the grass for a few days.
