TRANSFER NEWS: BARCELONA EYEING SHOCK MOVE FOR JOAO FELIX

TRANSFER NEWS: BARCELONA EYEING SHOCK MOVE FOR JOAO FELIX

Joao Felix is one of the players rumored to be being courted by FC Barcelona as they look to bolster their attacking options.

FC Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing Joao Felix this summer, according to El Gol Digital.

The Catalans seem to be searching for reinforcements in the big attacking department, and their quest has led them to a number of talented attackers, including the Atletico Madrid star.

Felix is thought to be highly valued by Barcelona due to his endless ability and extensive experience in Spanish football,

having spent almost two seasons with Atletico Madrid, making a total of 70 competitive appearances for Los Colchoneros.

Felix's growth, on the other hand, has been stifled to some degree by Diego Simeone's tactical philosophy,

which emphasizes defensive solidity and robust style of play over the demand for the young Portuguese's more technical nature. As a result, he has only scored 19 goals in 70 appearances for the club.

If the 21-year-old makes the switch to Barcelona in the summer, the number will skyrocket.

With Ronald Koeman seemingly able to revolve his squad around young players like Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, the Blaugrana have enjoyed steady sporting development in 2021, barring a Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain In the upcoming season,

More changes are expected at Barcelona, especially with Philippe Coutinho linked with a return to the Premier League and talks with Ousmane Dembele over a new contract stalled.

In that regard, Joao Felix's inclusion could be a welcome addition to the team, given his technical prowess and dynamism, which could complement the club's attacking style of play. It should also help him blend in with Lionel Messi, Pedri, Antoine Griezmann, and Ansu Fati more easily.

One big stumbling block for FC Barcelona in their pursuit of Felix is the undoubtedly high price tag the player would command, having originally joined Atletico for €120 million. It doesn't bode well for Barcelona, who have already overpaid for a lot of football in recent years and could end up more in debt as a result.

However, it would be important to see if Barcelona is able to recoup any of their transfer revenue by selling discarded players. Coutinho's exit, for example, may provide the Catalans with a significant financial boost this summer.
